This research outlines the development and deployment of an Information Retrieval
System (IRS) of Academic Papers with Automatic Tagging using Text Network Analysis
at the Technological University of the Philippines, Manila Campus, aimed at facilitating
access to Academic Papers. The primary goal is to improve the ease with which students
and faculty can discover and utilize relevant academic research. The system was developed
in Visual Studio Code using React JS, HTML, CSS, and Tailwind CSS for the front-end
and Laravel for backend. PHP and SQL for database management. Figma for the design of
the wireframe and GitHub for the version control. A comprehensive evaluation involving
30 participants, equally divided between Non-IT and Professional IT, was conducted
following the ISO 25010 for Software Quality Standards. The results show an overall score
of 3.65, which falls into the “Highly Acceptable” category. It is by the standard of ISO
25010 for Software Quality Standards. Participants conveyed positive perceptions about
the system's functional suitability and expressed satisfaction with its overall performance
and user interface. This study validates the effective application of the Information
Retrieval System with the Automatic Tagging system at the Technological University of
the Philippines, Manila Campus. It highlights the system's potential for assisting students.
Students are able to benefit greatly by having access to previous Academic Papers that are
relevant for their courses. It depicts, in a concrete way, the structure as well as the
functionality and the user interface of an Information Retrieval System educationally.
