    <subfield code="a">Egg grading and freshness testing are gaining grounds in poultry farming in that
they really help in maintaining quality, safety, and market value. This is, however, contrary

to the most small-scale farmers, who will resort to manual methods that are slow, labor-
intensive, and prone to human error. The researchers addressed these opportunities by

designing and developing a Solar Powered Egg Grading Machine with freshwater-based
Quality Testing to improve user convenience and functional efficiency. The researchers

utilized a prototyping approach to attain the research objectives by integrating a water-
based buoyancy tester and the size sorting mechanism operated by linear actuators. Then,

the researchers tested and analyzed the system in terms of sorting speed and functional
efficiency based on repeated trial operations. Test results showed that the system is
significantly faster than the conventional manual method in terms of its freshness-testing
and size-grading features. On the contrary, the researchers found that there is no significant
difference in the functional reliability based on the measured actuator movement as
compared to the expected performance during operation. The results proved that the
mechanism operates consistently and is at par with the intended design functions. This
innovation benefits poultry farmers and the community in general by contributing to
enhanced operational efficiency and, more importantly, in reducing manual labor on a daily
basis. The outcomes of this study are aligned with the United Nations&#x2019;Sustainable
Development Goals (UN-SDG) 7 and 12.
