This study, Development of a Coconut Midrib Separating Machine for Local Broomstick Production aimed to reduce manual labor, improve production efficiency, and support small scale broom sticks producers through the application of mechatronics technology. The developed prototype combines mechanical, electrical and electronics control systems to motorize the stripping process of coconut midribs. The machine consists of a stripping mechanism powered by AC and DC motors, control components including start, stop, and emergency stop functions. Both functionality and performance test were conducted to assess the machine’s feeding capacity, stripping efficiency, weight sensor accuracy, power consumption, and motor efficiency. Results showed that the machine successfully attained its stripping ability. The highest production rate was up to 98 pieces of fresh coconut leaves under 30 minutes in optimal operating conditions. Power consumption varied depending on load quantity and operating time with an average power consumption of 0.2669 kWh and 0.00813 kWh for each motor, while the machine maintained stable performance throughout testing. Although the coconut midrib feeding capacity is from five (5) to eight (8) pieces only due to the narrow feeder section, the machine can operate rigorously for hours without motor overheating. Findings indicate that the developed machine can serve as a practical and reliable solution for larger local broomstick production, helping reduce physical effort and improve productivity among local and small-scale producers.
