Dissertation note: College of Industrial Technology .-- Bachelor of Engineering Technology major in Construction Technology: Technological University of the Philippines, 2023. Summary: Particleboard can be made from a variety of natural fibers, although wood remains the most important raw material due to its relative quantity and year-round availability. However, rising demand for forest resources for a variety of purposes has resulted in a wood supply crisis. As a result, alternative raw materials are required. The purpose of this research is to look into the effects of utilizing natural fibers on the physical and mechanical properties of particleboard. Using three mix designs with ratios of 97:3, 95:5, and 93:7 raw material – binder with a target density of 1.0 kg/cc. The particleboards were tested for Physical Properties such as Thickness Swelling and Water Absorption, as well as Mechanical Properties such as Internal Bonding, Modulus of Rupture, and Face Screw Holding. All of the tests were performed in accordance with the requirements of the Philippines National Standard (PNS) 230:1989 for type-200 high-density board. Based on the results, it was found out that among all the mix design ratios specifically in Thickness Swelling Determination Test, the two (2) mix designs did meet the required standards with 7.90% and 18.31% while in Water Absorption Determination Test, all the mix design did not meet the required standard. In Internal Bond Test, the mix design one (1) and two (2) with 11.32 kg/cm2 and 10.81 kg/cm2 , respectively, passed the required standard. The modulus of rupture test result showed that all the mix designs did not meet the required standard. And the face screw holding test, only the mix design two (2) achieved values of 55.27% which met the minimum PNS standard of 50%. Keywords: Mahogany Seed Pod, Isocyanate Resin, Particleboard
