Dissertation note: College Of Industrial Education.-- Bachelor of science in industrial education major in information and communication technology: Technological University of the Philippines, 2025. Summary: BSIE-ICT students enrolled in Digital Media Production course often face cognitive overload due to the complexity of Adobe Photoshop, a primary tool for digital photo editing. This study designed and developed EdiThink, an AI-Voiced Instructional Web-Comic, to address these challenges by providing supplementary learning materials for basic photo editing concepts. The population for this study were students taking up the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education major in Information Communication Technology. Utilizing a Design-Based Research (DBR) approach, the study was conducted in four phases: (1) Problem Exploration and Identification, thematic analysis was conducted, this phase highlighted students' difficulties in learning due to cognitive overload. (2) Design and Development, during which EdiThink was created using insights from focus group discussions and feedback from experts and students. (3) Iterative Testing and Refinement, descriptive statistical analysis was utilized. Where 57 BSIE-ICT students evaluated EdiThink using the ISO 25010 standards, resulting in improvements to its functionality, usability, and content. (4) Synthesis of Design Principles, which distilled actionable recommendations for future instructional materials. The findings revealed that EdiThink effectively reduces cognitive overload, improves students’ understanding of digital photo editing, and provides an engaging, interactive learning experience. These results validate EdiThink as a valuable supplementary tool for photo editing lecture for Digital Media Production course. It recommends further investigation into EdiThink’s long-term impact on cognitive load and learning retention.
