In theory-based learning, some knowledge and information can be quite hard to obtain,
students should engage more in actual activity of the respective subject. The study intends
to address the issue of automotive students with limited training equipment by providing
rack and pinion steering and braking system training equipment, while offering thorough
knowledge for anyone entering the field of automotive engineering specially to TUP Lopez.
This allows the user to perform different kinds of activities which will help to enhance the
user’s understanding about the steering ang braking systems such as; maintaining the
braking system, maintaining the steering system, steering and braking system components
identification, basic troubleshooting, bleeding the braking system, leak testing,
disassemble and assemble of the components to dive deeper on how the mechanism works.
Test result showed that the system works as intended as a training unit, students participated
in testing activity only made minimal errors which was impressive on the first time using
the prototype, with consistent practice, students would be able to perfect the procedure.
The evaluators are automotive student, professors, and professionals in the same field. The
mean of the evaluation was 4.62 with the descriptive rating of ‘very acceptable’. This
indicates that students can definitely benefit from the prototype as a training unit.
Keywords: training equipment, steering system, braking system.
