Dissertation note: College of Industrial Technology.-- Bachelor of Technology major in Print Media Technology: Technological University of the Philippines, 2023. Summary: This project entitled “Utilization of PET Bottle as Alternative Material for Embossing Powder” was to develop an alternative embossing powder out of waste PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottles which adds to waste disposal problem. This innovation seeks to help environment reduce the burden to disposing waste bottles and help the craft industry to lessen the cost of raw materials and production through recycling. The process involves pulverizing the waste PET bottles and converting it into fine powder and mixing together with the precipitate mixture of distilled white vinegar and liquid floor polish to finally form the embossing powder. The waste PET bottles used in the study are environmentally friendly. To produce embossing powder were proven to be useful and practical as an alternative embossing powder. The acceptability performance of the produced embossing powder was evaluated by the Technological University of the Philippines – Manila professors and students who are expert in the field of printing in terms of functionality, workability, durability, safety, aesthetic and economy. Respondents were composed of three (3) faculty/peers, and twenty-two (22) students taking up Bachelor of Technology major in Print Media Technology. The mean ratings of the evaluation in the seven criteria are 4.4 for functionality, 4.6 workability, 4.4 for durability, 4.2 for safety, 4.4 for aesthetic and 4.5 for economy, resulting in 4.4 overall mean which interprets a very acceptable project study. The availability of materials, the technical expertise and the tools and equipment used for producing the alternative embossing powder is found to be effective and inexpensive compared to the commercial embossing powder.
