Dissertation note: College of Engineering-- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Technological University of the Philippines, 2019 Abstract: Given the demand of rice is always high, both local and international, several researches and studies were conducted to find a faster and effective way of harvesting rice to satisfy the demand of the product locally or globally. Similarly, this study aims to develop a low-cost harvesting machine that can be used as an alternative to some of the existing machineries that can be bought in the market. The design considered a flexible palay harvester that can be both used to a dry and wet paddy field. Within this context, different wheels are considered to come up to the most appropriate type of wheels that can be effective in two given conditions. The machine consists of four (4) major components: the reel, the cutting unit, the conveyor, and the threshing unit. The four components were driven by a 7-hp gasoline engine for its full operation starting from the reel and cutting unit, to the conveyor, up to the threshing unit. The gathered grains were stored at a sack attached to the threshing unit for storing. The sacks can be replaced after it is filled with grains. The machine has a Cutting capacity of 63 hours per hectare and a Threshing capacity of 96 kg/hr at full operation.
