A garment rack is a household furniture commonly used for storage of garments and for
hanging of different garment pieces. This project study focused on the Development of
Multi-Purpose Garment Rack from Textile Wastes. Fashion sustainability and the large
amount textile wastes are the problems that this study aims to address. The developed
Multi-Purposed Rack has a 2-layer rods, 3 feet in height and 2 feet width respectively that
can be used for storage of garments. The bottom design of the Multi-Purpose Rack is
intended for the storage of shoes and other footwear. The project was subjected to
compression and bending testing to determine its load capacity. As a result, it can hold 30
kilograms of garments. The developed garment rack was evaluated its acceptability by 25
professionals and non-professionals. The evaluation instrument used was the likert scale
on workability, functionality, efficiency, productivity, durability and economy. The overall
mean average of the evaluation was 4.58 with a descriptive rating of “Highly Acceptable”.
The overall result shows that the multi-purpose garment rack from textile wastes is highly
suitable and user-friendly. Furthermore, the Multi-purpose garment rack will help in the
utilization of textile wastes in the landfills and helps in promoting upcycling and
sustainability in the fashion industry.
