The study, Development of Replaceable Jig Steel Bending Machine, aimed to address the
issue of the traditional manual bending in construction for making stirrups and shaping
circle for scholar of National Certificate 2 training as an alternative pipe that is risk for
the workers and consume to much time using that method to bend. This prototype is
particularly useful for construction sites and National Certificate Level ll (NC2) training. The prototype is used to bend reinforcement steel bars, to shape mild steel square bars
into circles, to cut the finish product of bent steel and store the tools. The design of the
prototype is composed of five major components namely; Replaceable hexagonal
shafting plate, Tools Storage system, Steel Cutting system, Clamping system, Safety
Control. The Safety Control System has been implemented to prevent possible accidents
during operation, ensuring that both user and machine are safe. The Steel Bending
Machine is faster at bending mild steel compared to manual bending and allows
continuous operation efficiency. The prototype evaluation has a high level of workability
indicating its functionality, aesthetics, durability, safety, The replaceable jig steel bending
machine in terms of workability was rated 4.69, functionality 4.62, aesthetics 4.53, durability 4.52, safety 4.46 and overall, 4.5 with a descriptive rating of "High
Acceptable" based on the evaluation result of 50 respondents. The prototype evaluated
50 respondents, including the owner of welding shop, foreman, SMAW trainor and
instructor and students from Technological University of the Philippines with a course of
construction students and welding students. The prototype can bend a Reinforcement
Steel Bar (RSB) can bend up to 16mm only for stirrups and a square bar 12mm diameter
with a 6 inches diameter for TESDA scholar National Certificate Level ll (NC2) training
as an alternative pipe. Keywords: safety control
