Dissertation note: College of Industrial Technology.-- Bachelor of Engineering Technology Major in Electrical Engineering Technology: Technological University Of The Philippines, Manila. 2025 Summary: This project introduces the development of a semi-automatic coconut husking machine with motor control that aims to design and develop a motorized coconut husk remover easily, unlike the traditional method used for coconut dehusking, which uses a machete. This method is done using human energy, which is risky and tedious. The development of this machine is a solution for reducing the use of human labor, minimizing risks, and working more efficiently than manual dehusking. This project can be activated with electricity to dehusk the coconut for 2000 pieces of coconut in 8 hours a day. The farmers can also use the machine at night. This method employs the use of single-phase motors with 2 hp at a speed of 1500 rpm and 230 volts. This motor powers the two roller blades, which the upper roller blade works in a clockwise direction and the lower roller blade and rubber roller work in a counterclockwise direction to dehusk the coconut. Additionally, a motor control protects and controls if there is a malfunction inside the machine and has safety features to protect the user. The control is developed using a single-phase motor with 2 hp, a miniature circuit breaker, a magnetic contactor, a limit switch, a buzzer light, an indicator light, an on-and-off switch, which is a pushbutton, and an auxiliary contact block. Based on the findings of the evaluation, the results showed that the semi-automatic coconut dehusking machine with motor control is properly functioning day and night using electricity. Fifty (50) evaluators assessed the prototype involving an electrical engineering professor, copra farmers, electrical and mechanical experts, and electrical engineering students based on functionality, aesthetics, workability, economy, efficiency, and safety, with the average mean of 4.51 interpreted as “Excellent.” Results signify that the semi- automatic coconut dehusking machine with motor control is useful and safe for copra farmers.
