Dissertation note: College of Industrial Technology.-- Bachelor of Technology major in Apparel and Fashion Technology Technological University of the Philippines 2019. Summary: Hybrid and Eco-Friendly Fabric is an innovation in the Textile industry that has a highly demand in the local and international market today. The Development of Pandanus Odorifer Fabric treated with Hydrophobic Finishing Technology can be the answer to that need. It could be an alternative to Pina-cotton, cotton-abaca and other natural fabric available in the market today. Prior to the preparation, the fabric was subjected to series of test wherein result shown the characteristics of the fabric. In terms abrasion resistance, the fabric can resist more than 10,000 rubs, flammability shown that the fabric did not ignited which is safe to use as garment. The fabric weight is 162grams with a moderate pilling rated 3.0 in Pilling resistance. The fabric’s weft tensile strength can hold up to 84.8 lbs and the warp’s tensile strength can hold up to 51.3 lbs. lastly, the water repellency rated 75 which has partial wetting of the specimen face beyond spray point. The yarn was woven into into plain weave fabric structure. The product was presented to 30 respondents and evaluated based on the criteria of the evaluation instrument resulting to an overall mean rating of 3.80 which is acceptable in descriptive rating. It signifies that the product has the potential to use as garment and other uses such as bags and alternative to painting canvass. However, it is recommended that the hydrophobic finishing must undergo intense application of solution to retain water repellency.
