| 520 | 3 | _aThis study aimed to compare the antimicrobial activity of the synthesized zinc sulfide nanoparticles via co-precipitation method (ZnS NPs) and green synthesized zinc sulfide nanoparticles by using Peperomia pellucida (Pansit-pansitan) extract as a capping agent (ZnS: PP NPs). Characterization of synthesized zinc sulfide nanoparticles revealed the optical absorption using UV-VIS of 242 nm and 231 nm respectively. The FTIR Spectra of the synthesized ZnS NPs and ZnS: PP NPs confirms presence of same functional groups at wavenumber 3410.79 cm' and 3438.89 cm-' (OH), 1654.73 cm' and 1638.62 cm-' (C=0), 1564.86 cm ' and 1412.00 cm ' (C-C) and 1385.13 cm ' and 1385.86 cm (CH) respectively. The SEM images confirm nanoflakes from zine sulfide nanoparticles with plant extract with average particle size of 47 nm and 69 nm for the zinc sulfide nanoparticle. EDX graph shows peaks 0.9 keV and 2.61 keV that correspond to zinc and sulfur respectively for both the synthesized zinc sulfide nanoparticles. Elemental disposition analysis confirms 26.55% and 11.55% per mass of ZnS NPs and 20.8% and 5.23% per mass of ZnS NPs with plant extract. The antimicrobial activity of the ZnS Ps with plant extract has low inhibitory activity than the synthesized ZnS NP's against Escherichia coli and Candida albicans.--Author's Abstract. | |
