520 _aPesticide residues are distinguished by high levels of environmental persistence and toxicity to both humans and animals. Several farmers utilize various pesticides, including organophosphate insecticides, and malathion is among the most used pesticides. In this study, the researchers used egg yolk powder carbon quantum dots (EYP CQDs) to detect pesticide residues in eggplant fruit by synthesizing a commercially available egg yolk powder using a hydrothermal method, water extraction, dialysis, and filtration. The prepared nanomaterial was chara.cterized based on their morphology, chemical and optical properties, and stability using microscopy and spectrophotometry equipment. The EYP CQDs showed bright blue fluorescence under UV light at 350 nm wavelength and were used to detect trace concentrations of malathion pesticides by its fluorescence quenching. In a small amount of volume, EYP CQDs showed fluorescence quenching properties in different malathion concentrations, which proved that the synthesized nano-sensor is sensitive. Furthermore, it can be a good sensor for environmental and food safety monitoring.
