520 _aBreastmilk is crucial for newborns, providing essential protection against illnesses, as highlighted by UNICEF. The absence of a formal system for milk donation has led to potential health risks, necessitating a secure and efficient solution. This study introduces the Kalinga App, created in collaboration with the Quezon City Human Milk Bank (QCHMB), to streamline the method of donating and requesting breast milk, enhancing the awareness and utilization of Milk Banks across the country. Kalinga was developed to address the critical need for a structured and accessible platform for breast milk donation, aiming to mitigate the risks associated with informal milk-sharing practices. The Kalinga App integrates several features such as Milk Bank Locator, Categorization, and Milk History, built primarily with the MERN stack framework (MongoDB, Express.js, React and React Native, Node.js). These technologies ensured the app's performance and scalability. The system's compliance with ISO 25010 standards ensures its high acceptability in terms of Functional Suitability, Performance Efficiency, Compatibility, Usability, Security, Maintainability, and Portability. The app included a user-friendly interface, robust user verification, comprehensive donor and recipient medical-assisted screening, a map-based milk bank locator, prioritization categorization, real-time transaction updates, detailed transaction history, and data analytics for efficient monitoring. The development process utilized tools such as Visual Studio Code, Figma, Git, Expo Go, MongoDB Atlas, and Firebase Storage, among others, to guarantee users a smooth and secure experience. Evaluation results indicate that the Kalinga App was evaluated as highly acceptable, effectively meeting user needs and achieving the intended objectives of supporting and enhancing breast milk donation processes. Kalinga’s development and deployment provided a reliable platform that facilitates safer and more efficient breast milk donation, thus empowering Milk Banks and contributing to public health.
