520 _aThis study determined the effects of Online Problem Based Learning on the Achievement and Motivation in Biology of Senior High School Students. One intact class with 37 STEM students at Pasay City South High School were used as the respondents in this Single Group Pretest-Posttest Pre-Experimental research design. A teacher-made 40-item Biology Achievement Test (BAT) and adopted Biology Motivation Questionnaire -II (Glynn et al.,2011) was administered to the respondents before and after the implementation of OPBL. Vista-based (Vista, 2014) Online PBL Activities were implemented to the respondents for 4 weeks thru the Gsuite platform. BAT results revealed the mean scores and standard deviation of 12.41 and 4.40 in the pretest is 33 and 5.51 in the post-test respectively. The computed t-value is -25.296 and the p-value is 0.000 < .05 which means that there is a significant difference in the respondents’ achievement before and after their exposure to OPBL. Moreover, the paired T-test of pre and post BMQ mean scores revealed that t= -.7848 and p is .001< .05 level of significance which indicates that there is a significant difference in the respondents’ motivation before after exposure to OPBL. Overall findings shows that OPBL improves the achievement and motivation of STEM students in Biology. This study recommends that Biology teachers may use Online PBL as an alternative strategy in increasing the learners’ achievement and motivation. Relevant studies may be conducted using bigger samples to further confirm these findings.
