| 520 | _aThe project study focused on the development of particle board using shredded coffee husk as raw material and waste polybag as binder by determining its mechanical and physical properties. There are two (2) board samples of 300mm x 300mm x 12mm in every mix design of 30:70, 40:60 and 50:50 which has a single density of 0.8 g/cc. Each mix design was pressed into Heat Press Machine with the temperature of 110 degree Celsius for 20 minutes. The developed boards in each ratio were cut into 3 pieces of 50mm x 150mm board for Modulus of Rupture, 3 pieces of 50mm x 100mm board for Face Screw Holding and 3 pieces of 50mm x 50mm board for each test of Internal Bond, Water Absorption, and Thickness Swelling. All mix design passed the Physical Properties such as Thickness Swelling and Water Absorption while the Mechanical Properties such as Modulus of Rupture, Face Screw Holding and Internal Bond was below in Philippine National Standard for Type 150. The particle board had an average result in evaluation, resulting 4.31 percent with a descriptive rating of “Very Acceptable.” This signifies that the board is functional to all 30 evaluators (student, faculty and professionals). | ||
