| 520 | _aThe population of elderly individuals has been increasing around the world, especially in China. Most of these elderly individuals were empty-nesters or living alone. Unfortunately, most elderly have challenges monitoring their health conditions and have a poor emergency response system. The researcher proposed a study entitled Development of State Monitoring System for Elderly and Empty Nesters Using IoT and G.P.S. Technology. The developer built a system named Elderly Care app, a mobile and web application that works along with the Internet of Things or smart devices that targets to address the challenges that the elderly and empty nesters have encountered. Mobile applications have a health check, health history, relatives, help, and chat button. And for the web system, the user can access the elderly’s health information, relatives, and information if the user accesses the emergency button. The researcher tested the applications for their functionality, reliability, usability, and efficiency to classify if the system was effective and working accordingly. For this study, the system was evaluated by 30 respondents composed of elderly users, relatives, health workers, and I.T. professionals using the ISO/IEC 25010 software quality model and had an overall interpretation of “Satisfactory” and “Very Satisfactory” for each type of respondent. This signifies that the system is helpful to health workers and elderly users. Researchers believed that to address the challenges, changing the traditional approach with the adaptation of technology could be the first step in addressing it. | ||
