520 _aThis project, entitled “Development of Chipboard for Bookbinding using Recycled Cigarette Butts,” aimed to develop chipboard from recycled cigarette butts or filters. This innovation seeks to help reduce the number of litter and toxic waste from cigarette butts and assist and support printing industries in post-press, students taking related courses, and consumers. The process involves collecting raw materials, recycling and purifying cigarette butts, recycling waste papers and corrugated boards, pulping recycled cigarette butts and old corrugated boards, mixing raw materials and binding agents, molding chipboard, pressing of the board, trimming, and drying. Paper strength test and tearing strength test are conducted on the test samples. In the paper strength test, the product held 1.134 kilos before it bent at 1.4 kilos. In tearing strength tests, the product was able to hold 5 pounds and tear at 7.5 lbs. The product was evaluated by five peers, five employees from the industry, and ten students. The project’s overall mean is 4.496, which has a qualitative interpretation of “Very Acceptable” and shows that recycling cigarette butts and using them as raw material for chipboard can be adapted by the industry and its consumers.
