| 520 | _aFloods and landslides were two of the greatest global threats and so require effective disaster management. Far too many places around the globe are exposed to hazards such as flooding, landslides, and earthquakes; yet early warning systems are provided only for the developed countries. Existing FLWS have limitations, such as an inadequate communication process regarding high-impact disasters, outdated communication systems, and a lack of critical information on the severity and impacts. ‘This study proposes a flood and landslide monitoring system (FLMS)’, ‘using IoT and wireless sensor networks’ to enhance disaster preparedness and provide easy access to monitor floods and landslides through apps in vulnerable communities. The system integrates LiDAR sensors, Float Switch, GPS, and microcontrollers to provide accurate, real-time information and timely warnings. The FLMS is designed to improve response times, reduce loss of life, and minimize property damage. The project also aligns with the TUP and DOST agenda by advancing technology for disaster preparedness and contributes to the UN-SDG 11 by promoting ‘resilience and adapting capacity to climate-related hazards.’ Keywords: Wireless Sensor Network, UN-SDG 11, Flood and Landslide Monitoring System, Internet of Things, Sensor Nodes | ||
