520 _aarticleboard is a panel product made of lignocellulosic materials, primarily in the form of discrete particles, mixed with a synthetic resin or other appropriate binder, and glued together under heat and pressure. For many years, as technology has advanced, the viability of non- wood alternatives has been researched. The manufacturing process of particleboard requires the use of formaldehyde which has been proven to be risky for the human body. This study investigates the compatibility of Ratan Waste and Isocyanate as a binder for producing particleboard. An experimental mix design was employed where particleboards are manufactured using three (3) different mix designs: 97:3, 93:7, 89:11. Each mix design was replicated 3 times for a more accurate result. The boards had dimensions of 40cm x 40cm x 1.2cm with a target density of 0.80g/cc. All particleboards undergo an internal bond (IB) test and modulus of rupture (MOR) test for the mechanical properties and Moisture Resistance, Thickness Swelling and Density Variation for the physical properties. All the tests and required specifications followed the PNS ISO 16893:2017 standards in line with P-HLB MR 2 for Tropical Condition. Results showed that in 89:11 (1 mm) passed and have the best results in MOR and IB having 31.26 MPa and 1.79 MPA. In terms of MR, 89:11 (2mm) have the best result having 28.09 MPa and the 89:11 (0.5 mm) have the best result on having the lowest thickness swelling at 6.36%. The specimen was subjected to an evaluation of the acceptability of the product using the TUP Evaluation Instrument for Developed Prototype. The project evaluation reflected an average mean of 4.16 with a descriptive rating of "Very Acceptable".
