520 _aWaste in the Philippines has become a crucial cause of pollution due to its overbearing abundance. Although there are waste management facilities built to combat the problem, they are insufficient. One example, a junk shop, manually crushed and sorted wastes, which can pose risks for workers. This research is focused on developing a plastic bottle and tin can crusher with a sorter to reduce the ergonomic risks to junk shop workers and lessen the occupied space of plastic bottles and tin cans. The researchers used local materials to construct the prototype. Electronics and computer programming is then used to automate the prototype. The machine sorting accuracy test determined that the machine detects and sorts plastic bottles correctly while sorting tin cans with 80% accuracy. The average time for the machine to do the whole process is 21.60 seconds per object. Moreover, the comparative test results indicated that there is a 6.8232% difference for plastic bottles and a 17.6638% difference for tin cans with regard to machine and manual output. The machine is evaluated by 34 respondents with varying expertise. The performance is evaluated using the TUP evaluation system. The evaluation resulted in an overall mean of 4.30 and a descriptive interpretation of 'Very Good.' Based on the test and evaluation results, the machine can reduce the overconsumption of storage of wastes and reduce ergonomic risks of workers.
