520 _aFSM students struggle with meal planning due to overly complex existing guides. This study aimed to design, develop, and evaluate MealWiz, a meal planning app to enhance students’ practical understanding. It involved 40 students, four teachers, and two experts, using random and convenient sampling in a Design-Based Research within a mixed-method sequential exploratory design. Data collection included focus groups, interviews, and questionnaires. In Phase 1, teaching challenges and students’ needs—like nutrition, personalization, and dietary guidance—were identified. Phase 2 showed high satisfaction with MealWiz’s UI/UX, with minor suggestions for interactivity. In Phase 3, experts confirmed strong alignment with learning outcomes (x̄ 4.83), noting minor improvements. Phase 4 synthesized design principles based on the SOLO Taxonomy to support practical understanding. In conclusion, MealWiz was positively received and improved students’ meal planning skills, supporting the integration of user-centered digital tools in FSM education.
