520 _aThe research study entitled “Proposed Western Visayas Eco-Cultural Hub in Iloilo Province” aimed to distinguish, promote, and develop eco-cultural tourism in the region of Western Visayas. Culture is a beneficial factor of tourism. Known as one of the regions in the Philippines with the richest natural and cultural heritage, Western Visayas is the third highest number of tourist arrivals. With tourism on the rise within the country, many factors contribute to its positive and negative impacts, especially to the environment. As cited by multiple studies, the growing number of tourists pose a threat to the environment, which led the researchers to choose Region 6 – Western Visayas that have the highest cultural heritage to showcase, while identifying the problem of having high tourist arrivals that impacts the environment of the region and evaluating the criteria made to properly select the beneficiary and location for the project. The proposed Eco-Cultural Hub is to be located in Barangay Balabago, Jaro District, Iloilo City, Province of Iloilo. Through the site selection process, site analysis, and considerations on legal bases and government laws, the research paper generated a great basis to propose the Eco-Cultural Hub on the chosen location compared to other regions. The study employs a quantitative-descriptive approach, while stratified random sampling is used in selecting respondents. On the other hand, upon using Slovin’s Formula, the researchers were able to come up with a total of one-hundred ten (110) respondents. Ninety-eight (98) respondents are local and foreign tourists and twelve (12) are culture-related employees. The researchers gathered data using survey questionnaires using a mixture of online and face-to- face approaches. The gathered data is calculated, analyzed, interpreted, and presented. The research study incorporated the viability of the studies, consisting of legal and financial viabilities, and the design proposal, from which the conceptualization of the Eco- Cultural Hub is presented. This is presented along with the behavioral analysis and spatial analysis, as well as the interrelationship diagram of the spaces in the proposed Eco-Cultural Hub. The need for an Eco-Cultural Hub for the Western Visayas region is mostly seen to have positive qualities that may contribute greatly to the province of Iloilo. It is designed to centralize regional cultural heritage, promote economic development, increase cultural awareness, develop cultural tourism performance, alleviate poverty in the region, and protect flora species in the region.
