520 _aWhile scarecrows are commonly used to deter birds and animals from crops, they are static and ineffective in responding to changing conditions. Farmers typically place scarecrows in fields to ward off pests, but these devices do not react when birds or animals approach. This study, titled "Development of Automatic Solar-Powered Scarecrow with Rat Repellent Machine," aimed to enhance crop protection by addressing the limitations of traditional scarecrows. This project introduces an innovative approach by incorporating modern technology into the scarecrow design. A Passive Infrared (PIR) sensor is used to detect the presence of birds and animals, triggering the scarecrow to activate mechanical motions such as moving its arms up and down. In addition, a horn alarm is sounded to further scare off pests. The system is powered by solar energy, making it both sustainable and cost- effective. This combination of motion detection, movement, and sound significantly increases the effectiveness of the scarecrow while conserving energy. By incorporating these features, this automatic, solar-powered scarecrow offers an efficient and eco-friendly solution to protect crops from pests, improving overall agricultural productivity and reducing reliance on chemical deterrents.
