Nowadays, most of the farms use irrigation system in obtaining water for the crops. The collection of water is simpler with the help of electrical pump and tubes. However, irrigation system requires electricity to function its main components and some farms are located on rural areas with consistent power outage. The project is consisted of 3 major system; power system, control system, and watering system. With the presence of ATS in the system, the power supply can switch between utility source and solar source during power interruption. The fabrication and testing of the prototype was conducted at Biñan, Laguna. Tests were conducted to measure the capability, functionality and acceptability of the prototype. The solar panels can charge the battery with the help of MPPT charge controller. The inverter could also run the water pump that supply water to the pressurize tank. Once the soil moisture sensor is triggered by low moisture level, the solenoid valves open to release water on soil. As a result of evaluation, the prototype obtains a total mean of 4.58 rating in overall criteria which is equivalent to "Excellent" rating. The results make the prototype efficient and useful to the local farmers. -- Author's abstract | |
