This research study, Development of an Integrated Android-Based Medicine Dispensing and Drug Adherence Monitoring System for the Outpatient is fabricated to decrease the chances of medication errors due to missed medicine intake to prevent possible health risks. The system can monitor the medication schedule of the outpatient as well as dispense medicine according to the medication. The system's Mobile app can be connected to the prototype and dispense medicine through Bluetooth. The system can be powered by a power supply and an alternative source (power bank). The system was developed using Android Studio for Android application development, and SQLite for its database; Arduino IDE was used to program the prototype's functionality. Test results showed that the application software can be installed in any Android device running on Android 4.3 version and above without incompatibility issues. All test data were processed as expected in terms of speed and accuracy. The system was evaluated by 20 evaluators composed of medical specialists, IT & Engineer professionals, and students under the Electronics Department of Technological University of the Philippines - Manila using ISO 25010 software quality model and was rated with an overall mean of 4.86 with a qualitative interpretation of "Excellent. This signifies that the system can decrease the chances of medication errors. -- Author's abstract | |
