| 520 | 3 | _aDue to COVID-19 pandemic many facilities use personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent being infected with the virus. Shoe covers are part of PPEs that help protect health workers from possible contamination. However, doffing of PPE shoe cover takes time and can risk exposure to bacteria and infection. The main objective of this study was to develop a prototype that can help remove shoe covers safely and hands-free. It also aimed to sanitize the shoe covers and shoes of the workers. This was achieved by using the principle of a vacuum motor. Segregated shoe covers go into a vacuum chamber wherein it is sealed. The project was tested and evaluated to determine its efficiency and performance. Test results showed that it can remove shoe cover with an average time of 3.96 seconds with 100% segregation accuracy. It was subjected to evaluation using TUP evaluation instrument for prototype to determine its performance. The project obtained an Excellent score of 4.54 from 46 respondents. This attested that the prototype achieved its objectives and managed to be an effective contactless remover of shoe covers for health workers. | |
