The primary aim of our research is to reduce food waste that would otherwise
decompose in landfills by exploring an alternative and sustainable use for Saba banana
peels—specifically, as a component in the production of edible straws. A key technical
objective of the study is to develop an efficient machine that minimizes human intervention
throughout the production process of the edible Saba banana peel-based straw. The study
also identified the optimal material composition, temperature settings, and design
requirements for the machine components. By integrating these elements, the project
demonstrates the potential for environmentally friendly production of edible straws made
from banana peel waste. The outcome highlights a viable solution that aligns with
sustainability goals through a carefully structured and time-bound production process.
