This study aims to design and develop a semi-automatic strawberry jam processing<br/>machine to improve efficiency, consistency, and product quality in the jam production<br/><br/>operations of Andap Farms in La Trinidad, Benguet. Addressing the challenges of labor-<br/>intensive and inconsistent manual jam-making methods, the study focused on creating a<br/><br/>compact machine that integrates the essential processes of crushing, cooking, mixing, and<br/>dispensing into a unified system suitable for small-scale farmers.<br/>A mixed-method approach was employed within the framework of developmental<br/>research, which involves the systematic design, implementation, and evaluation of<br/>technological innovations to ensure construct validity and operational efficiency. Data were<br/>gathered through direct consultations with local strawberry farmers in Barangay Puguis, La<br/>Trinidad, Benguet. The machine's performance was observed and analyzed based on functional<br/>output, processing time, product consistency, and ease of use.<br/>The findings revealed that the developed machine successfully processed 10 kilograms<br/>of strawberries per batch, producing an average of 28 jars of 350 mL strawberry jam within a<br/>target time of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Fabricated using food-grade materials and<br/>equipped with an induction heating system, anchor-type mixer, and manual crusher, the<br/>machine met the desired quality and operational standards. Comparative evaluations showed<br/>improved efficiency, reduced labor input, and consistent product quality over traditional<br/>methods. |
