The purpose of the Project development of a manual engraving machine is to put an imprint
on the surface of the tube/pipe. The machine will help the small industry of pipe/tube
suppliers in the Philippines to make their product traceable by putting a marking. The main
objectives of this study are to develop an engraver that will mark the important
manufacturing details such as the date, month, and properties of their product. This was
achieved by using manual engraving instead of laser engraving that cost more expensive
compared to a manual engraver. Test results had shown that the machine could engrave up
to Ø19.0x250mm to Ø35x250mm with the thickness of t=1.6mm to t=3.2mm. The use of
manual engraver increases the workability and availability of materials in the local market.
The prototype is presented to thirty (30) evaluators to determine its performance. The
performance of the machine is evaluated by 30 evaluators and obtained the mean score of
4.40 which means Very Good. This concludes that the manual tube engraver had managed
to achieve the traceability of the product. The material used in the engraver is 4140 steel
and other hi-tensile steel, which will make the engraver long-lasting and improves the
performance of the machine.
