Dissertation note: College of Liberal Arts.-- Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management: Technological University of the Philippines, Manila. 2024 Summary: This tracer study assessed the employability variables of BSHRM alumni at the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) in Manila from 2011 to 2018, as well as the status of former students and the efficacy of the curriculum. This study was conducted on graduates of TUP’s BSHRM graduate degree programs and their feedback on their educational experiences at the university. The data were gathered by sending online questionnaires to graduates with active email accounts and using social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram to reach respondents. The Raosoft Calculator was employed by the researcher, and the suggested sample size was 174. The total population of Bachelor of Science in Hotel Restaurant Management graduates from 2011– 2018 was 317; only 100 respondents answered the survey. Researchers employ multiplication and division to obtain the percentage of the sample size due to the unequal number of graduates each year. For the demographic profile of the respondents, 68% were male and 40.0% were female. The profile age of respondents was evident, making up 45.0% of the age group of 28–30 years old, and 35% fell within the age range of 31–34 years old. Profile according to year graduated: the majority were in the years 2011–2014 with 55.0%, followed by the years 2015–2016 with 32.0%, while graduates from 2011– 2018 experienced a variety of economic and social conditions. Profile according to highest educational attainment: 95.0% are college degree holders and 5.0% are master’s degree holders. 72.0% were single, and 28.0% were married. To assess the teaching and learning in the BSHRM program of graduates in terms of teaching instructions, the overall mean of 4.33 has a verbal interpretation of strongly agree. Quality 4.10 has a verbal interpretation of the agreement. Student activities that obtain a 4.28 have a verbal interpretation of strongly agree. Employability profile of BSHRM graduates: 95.0% were employed, 49.0% were in the rank and file, and 37.0% were supervisory level. Respondents answered about the type of nature of company line to food service (30.0%), while 47% responded to barriers to getting a job regarding issues with salaries and benefits. 13.0% obtained relevant skills and knowledge. To assess curriculum relevance to present job indicators, a 4.17 weighted mean was recorded as equivalent to verbal interpretations of agreement. Attain the lowest weighted mean of 3.95, which is relevant to respondents’ jobs. An overall mean of 4.05 indicates these needed to be attended to and evaluated, according to the verbal interpretation. The result of this tracer study will determine the status of BSHRM alumni from 2011 to 2018 and allow for possible applications of making progress and enhancements to the curriculum.
