One of the problems the community deals with is the weather changes in
the Philippines. The researchers conducted interviews with the barangay officials
of Barangay Sampaloc, Parañaque and gathered data and insights that resulted
in the design and development of our prototype foldable canopy. The prototype
device is designed to provide a large space with natural ventilation, offering shelter
and a comfortable space for the community to stay in. The engineering of the
canopy makes it portable, easy to assemble, and can store anywhere anytime.
The canopy can be used for various projects or occasions, such as nightwatches,
vendors, charity events, birthdays, emergency shelter and more. The fabrication
of the frame and canopy lasted 3 months before testing and evaluation. The
researchers tested the capabilities of TINUPY foldable canopy for 2 weeks,
constant assembling, disassembling, and transporting of the canopy in narrow and
rough roads. By utilizing quantitative methods, the researchers handed out survey
forms to random 35 respondents within Barangay Sampaloc, Parañaque City. The
evaluated results proved that TINUPY foldable canopy is aesthetically designed
for the use of the community, made primarily to combat the tropical climate and
light to moderate rainfalls, functional and mobile, is economical and safe to use.
To conclude, TINUPY is optimized for its design and integration of other
mechanisms for the convenience of the community for outdoor shelter and
activities.
