Summary: This study, “Utilization of Sugarcane Bagasse and Eggshell as Lightweight Paper Packaging,” aimed to produce a paper as secondary packaging. The study used sugarcane bagasse and eggshell as the major raw materials in creating the product. The sugarcane bagasse was obtained from Wong Kei restaurant in Ongpin Street, Binondo, Manila, while the eggshells were collected from TJS Bakeshop in Bacoor, Cavite. Due to the accessibility of the sugarcane bagasse, eggshell, and other materials needed, the researchers were able to develop a paper measuring 8.2 x 11.7 centimeters. Results of the tear strength testing is 2.84 N/40 mm using a load cell, it showed that the developed product is within the acceptable range. Meanwhile, the tensile strength result is 12.59 N/20 mm, which means that the material is highly acceptable. The results were conducted and analyzed from Adamson University Technology Research Development Center (AUTRDC). The product was also evaluated by 60 respondents from the Graphic Arts and Printing Technology Department. The evaluation on the acceptability of the product is based on the 6 criteria namely: functionality, workability, durability, safety, aesthetics, and economy. The evaluation resulted with an overall mean of 4.66 with a descriptive rating of “Highly Acceptable” which means that the sugarcane bagasse and eggshell have potentials to be used for developing paper for packaging.
