The SMART system is designed to enhance library resource management at Technological
University of the Philippines Manila by automating seat availability detection and noise level
monitoring. By integrating IoT technology, computer vision and AI, the system optimizes space
utilization and improves the overall library experience. Using OpenCV, it processes real-time camera
feeds to detect occupied and vacant seats with high accuracy, reducing reliance on manual inspections.
A wireless microphone audio module captures ambient noise levels, ensuring a conducive study
environment. The collected data is displayed on a user-friendly mobile application and an interactive
kiosk, providing real-time seat and noise level updates for students and library administrators.
The study employs IoT-enabled sensors, computer vision models, and cloud-based data processing
to ensure a seamless and responsive system. By implementing this smart library solution, the study
aims to enhance efficiency, improve student convenience, and create a more organized academic
environment, contributing to the advancement of IoT-based library systems.
