This study aimed to determine the learning experiences and challenges that
Bachelor of Technical Vocational Teacher Education - Beauty Care and Wellness
(BTVTED-BCW) students have with the current instructional material used in
studying Massage Therapy course. This addresses the challenges faced by
students using the current reflexology chart, which lacks practical application and
caters to a limited range of learning styles. The objective of this study was to design
and develop a Foot Reflexology Model Board as instructional material in Massage
Therapy, particularly on studying Foot Reflexology which is one of the topics
included in Massage Therapy course. The study utilizes a Design-Based Research
(DBR) approach which consists of problem identification, design and development,
iterative refinement, and evaluation.
The findings revealed a general mean of 4.68 on the general acceptability
of the Foot Reflexology Model Board, indicating a “highly agree” when it comes on
the Appearance, Durability, Functionality, Perceived Ease of Use, Instructional
Applicability of the developed instructional material. And the evaluation on the
student’s satisfaction revealed a 4.52 general mean which indicates a “highly
agree” rating based on the likert scale rating description. These results
demonstrated the potential benefit of the Foot Reflexology Model Board in the
educational setting and its potential to refine the learning and practical experience
of the students in Massage Therapy.
