Motorcycle maintenance in low-tier repair shops often relies on homemade tools that are
susceptible to downtime. This study aimed to address these challenges by designing a
compact, multipurpose motorcycle lifter that integrates a shock tester and spring
compressor. These essential tools for lifting motorcycles, testing suspensions, and
compressing springs are combined into a single, user-friendly device tailored for resource-
constrained workshops. Traditional lifters are often expensive, bulky, and lack the
versatility required in small repair shops. To overcome these limitations, a hydraulic-
powered lifter was developed using locally available materials. It features an integrated
shock tester for suspension evaluation without road testing and a spring compressor for
safe and efficient repairs. Adjustable mounting clamps and T-shaped locking pins enhance
safety and operational stability. Rigorous testing, including a comparative analysis for time
efficiency trials and stability tests subjected to various weights, demonstrates the
prototype’s improved performance compared to the traditional method. The results show
less downtime of 22:48 minutes in spring compression and shock testing, which gathered
a remarkable time efficiency improvement of 73.63% and maintained a balanced
observation for its stability during lifting and lowering operations. The prototype’s overall
evaluation rating of 4.50 proves that the prototype is functional and a reliable solution for
improving the motorcycle maintenance process.
