This study is about the students of Food Service Management (FSM) at the Technological University of the Philippines Manila Campus during their second term of academic year and the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools on their Academic Performance, titled " Relationship between AI Tool Usage and Academic Performance of FSM Students at TUP Manila". This study is a descriptive-quantitative, and cross-sectional design was employed, it involves 50 FSM students selected through random sampling. Data was gathered using structured questionnaire adapted from Bancoro (2024) which measured its relationship with three categories of AI tool usage (functionality availability and complexity) and three categories of academic performance (assessment scores course mastery and grading metrics) on a five-point Likert scale. This reflected excellent internal consistency. It was found that the usage of AI tools such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, Quillbot, and Canva for functionality had a mean of 3.23 and for complexity, it had a mean of 3.12. However, their use even though available options had a mean of 3.52. This implies that despite the availability of the AI tools they only need to be used for simple tasks. However, their academic ability was ranked highly by the respondents, with their achievement level categorized as Above Average at 3.72 and grading standards in the Excellent category, given that the overall mean was 4.32. The graphs indicated that higher usage of AI did not result in a correlation with higher grades, thereby suggesting that these AI applications were simply supplements and aid in convenience and efficiency rather than primary learning tools. FSM academic success in TUPManila continues to rely on familiar concepts in study habits and hands-on training, and FSM academic subjects need an incorporation of concepts in using AI effectively.
