This study aims to develop equipment that will help maintain the vehicle's undercarriage.
The thesis study titled "Development of Hydraulic Car Ramp Lifter" was created to
ergonomically aid the hardship experienced by auto mechanics while lifting vehicles and
help reduce time while repairing components under the vehicle. The car ramp structure
comprises an angle bar and a flat bar; the main components are a hydraulic bottle jack, DC
motor, steering pump, steel tube, telescopic square tube, power push button, and steel plate.
The DC motor drives the steering pump using mechanical energy, and the steering pump
generates hydraulic energy. The equipment can lift a vehicle weighing up to 5,000 kg
without difficulty. It can be lifted to 600 mm. Using the steering pump and DC motor, the
light vehicles can be lifted in 11 to 16 seconds. There is a significant difference in the
speed of operation using the manual method with the jack and using the equipment
developed by the researchers. Fifty respondents assessed the project prototype's outcome
in terms of functionality, aesthetics, durability, workability, ergonomics, and safety. The
overall average mean is 4.74, with a “highly acceptable” descriptive rating. The prototype
has shown promising results from the six evaluation criteria, and the car ramp with
hydraulic jack operation can perform the intended task.
